Setting up VPN for Macintosh OS X

  • Download the vpnclient from the VPN Software page. If it asks where to save the file, choose 'Desktop'. Please avoid using Internet Explorer to download the file.
  • When the Download is complete, there will be an icon on your desktop called vpnclient-darwin-4.xxx...dmg.gz.
  • Double click on the vpnclient-darwin-4.xxx...dmg.gz file. It should automatically open, but if not select Stuffit Expander to open the file. Now there will be a new icon on the desktop that looks like a disk drive labeled CiscoVPNClient.
  • Double click on the CiscoVPN icon and the installer will launch. It may ask for the administrator password for the computer. The default settings are fine; just click next, next, next, next and then Done.
  • The new version for Macintosh includes the configuration file in a folder called "Profiles." If the configuration file is not included you will need to download it separately from 'https://vpnsetup.case.edu/vpn3000.html, click on CaseVPN.pcf to download the configuration file.

  • Logging on with the VPN Client
    To connect to VPN, simply open the client from the Applications Folder. The program is called VPNClient. Make sure to select the CaseVPN entry and click connect. You will need to enter your Case User ID and password to complete the connection.
