How to test if your fiber optic cables are broken

First unplug the fiber optic cable completely then hold one end of the cable up to the brightest light available. Hold the other end up to your eyes. If the cable is not broken you should be able to see a pinprick of light on the tip of each cable. The brighter the light, the easier it will be able to see. If you don't see light in one or both cables, take the cable to the Help Desk, they'll double check the cable for you.
