Using Norton Ghost with Netgear GA621
Since Norton Ghost uses DOS for imaging computers, a DOS network driver is required. The driver that Case's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was able to acquire from NetGear works, but is not perfect.- NetGear DOS driver does not understand Autonegotiation
- Contact ITS, have them set the appropriate network switch to Gigabit Full Duplex, from Autonegotiate
- Windows driver's default is Autonegotiate; Windows will be unable to connect once switch is set to Full Duplex
- Open Network Connections in Control Panel
- Select network connection bound to fiber card
- Edit connection's properties
- Under General tab, select Configure button
- Under configuration dialog's Advanced tab, set Media Type to '2) Force 1000 Full'
- Set up Ghost to work with DOS driver (instructions for Ghost Console, can be adapted to Ghost boot floppies)
- Select computer in Machine Groups
- Edit computer's properties
- Under Client tab, Browse for a manually selected network settings template
- You will need to set up a template for the first computer, which you will then be able to use for all others
- Download the driver file here and unZip it
- Edit templates
- Add a template for an NDIS2 driver
- Browse for select 'DP83820.DOS'
- Set the driver name to 'DP83820$'
- Name the new driver template
- Select the NetGear GA621 template
