The Outlook Connector

What is it?

Some people like the convienece of using the same program for email and calendaring. Microsoft Outlook does both. If you have been using Outlook for Calendaring, and want to continue to use it with the new Corporate Time calendar, you will have to use the Outlook Connector. Note that Outlook is not a calendaring program we recommend.

How do I do it?

Note: The Outlook Connector will not work with Windows Mobile devices, see our news posting for information on how to configure Windows Mobile 5.0 to use Calendar.
  1. Download the CorporateTime Outlook Connector 3.3. from The Software Center. The download should automatically begin in a few seconds. If it doesn't, click the word 'here' to begin the download.
  2. Open Microsoft Outlook like you would normally to check your mail.
  3. You need to import and export settings from outlook you wish to keep. This process will have to be repeated for each item that you wish to save (you will have to do this once each for your calendar folder, your tasks folder, etc.). Corporate Time will overwrite all data in Outlook when the connector is installed. You must ensure that all items you wish to save are backed up
    • Go to File/Import and Export. Choose 'Export to a file' from the list, and click next.
    • Choose 'Personal Folder File(.pst)' from the list, and click next.
    • Highlight whichever one of the personal folders you would like to preserve (in this case calendar is selected). Make sure that the box marked Include subfolders is checked, and click next.

    • Choose a file name that you will remember and be able to find later, (you might want to write it down) and make sure that 'Replace duplicates with items exported' is selected. Click finish. Click OK.
  4. Double click on the install file for CorporateTime Outlook Connector 3.3 that you downloaded in step one. Click yes, then on the welcome screen click next again.
  5. Accept the End User License Agreement. Fill in Name and Organization fields, then click next. Choose the destination directory for installation, the default directory is fine. Then click next and Click next again.
  6. Select Use an Existing Profile, make sure that CorporateTime Outlook Connector is highlighted, and click next.
  7. Choose Corporate from the list of configuration options, and click next.
  8. In the field for Server, type calendar.case.edu, for the Account Name field fill in your normal Case Network ID (usually this is the first part of your email address such as abc123 Note: for Outlook 2003 you will need to enter your First name and Last name, for example: John Public instead of jqp.), and type in your password. Click next.

  9. On the IMAP4 Configuration screen, check the box marked 'I do not yet have an IMAP4 account' if you use POP for your Case email. (If you're not sure, check out the explaination of POP versus IMAP on our checking email page.)
  10. On the next screen, check the box marked 'I do have an SMTP account'. Click next. If you use Outlook or will use the CorporateTime Connector while not connected to the Case Network, check the box marked, 'I will use this computer while not connected to the network'. Checking this box allows you to decide if the Connector will automatically connect to CorporateTime, or if it will prompt you for that decision at the start of every session. If you wish to choose between working offline or connecting to Corporate Time, check both boxes. Click next and Click next again then Click finish.
  11. Now Corporate Time Outlook Connector 3.3 is installed. Close and re-open Outlook it will ask if it should restore shortcut settings. Click yes.
  12. Go to File and choose Import and Export... Select Import from another program or file and then click next.
  13. Select Personal Folder File(.pst) and then click next.
  14. In the box marked File to Import, type in or browse for the filename you created in step 7. Make sure that the box marked Replace duplicates with items imported is checked. Click next.
  15. Make sure that Personal Folders is highlighted, the box marked Include Subfolders is checked, and that Import items into the same folder in: is selected with your own Case Network User ID. Click finish.
