Pocket PC
Setting up the Shared Oracle Calendar on your Pocket PC.
What is it?
The Corporate Time Calendar can synchronise with your Pocket PC Calendar! Any meeting you schedule on your pocket PC will be added to the calendar server the next time you hotsync, and vice versa.
How do I do it?
- Before you begin, your Pocket PC and the ActiveSync program must be installed. Also it is a good idea to have the Corporate Time client for your computer installed as well. It is available from the Software Center.
- Download the Corporate Sync for Pocket PC from the Software Center
- Once the csync_pc.exe has finished downloading, it may open automatically. If it does not, simply double click on it to install.
- Click Next on the installer screen, if you get an error saying that a program is causing a problem with the install, close that program and then click 'retry'.
- Click Next again and then 'Finish'. Corporate Sync is now installed.
- Corporate Sync should automatically open. If it does not, go into programs and doubleclick on 'CorporateSync for the Pocket PC'.
- The 'Sign In' settings should be open, if not click on 'sign in' at the top of the list on the left. Enter your User id and password (this is the same as your Case User ID and password. The User id is based on your initials followed by a number. For Example John Q. Public might have a user id of jxp99).
- Enter calendar-server.case.edu in the server box, and the node as 101.
- You can set other settings now if you like or just click Okay to close the settings. Other settings you may wish to set include the Date Range for the Date Book and To Do List and the Rules.
The default date range is just one week into the past and future, if you'd like to keep earlier and later meetings on your calendar you'll need to click on the plus next to 'Date Book', click on 'settings' and change the date range. Under Rules you can set which calendar is the one which should overwrite the other in case of a conflict, by default it is set to the calendar server. If you'd rather it be the Palm you can change it under 'Rules'.
- Open the ActiveSync program. If you have a partnership already installed, you will need to delete it by going to File and chosing 'Delete Partnership'. (This will not be an option listed under file if you do not have any partnerships).
- Sync your Pocket PC. A 'create a new partnership' wizard will automatically open. Select Standard and click next. Select to sync with your desktop computer and click next again.
- You will be given the choice to sync to two computers or just one, select the choice appropriate for your computer(s) and click Next.
- Set Calendar, Contacts and Tasks to Corporate Time and click next.
- In the Operations window the default setting is fine, or you can make changes as you like so long as Corporate Time remains checked. Click Next. and then Finish.
- Sync your Pocket PC, you may have to sync it twice for the changes to take effect. You're done!
