Matlab for Windows

What is Matlab?

Matlab is a program for data analysis and manipulation. Used mostly for mathematics, technical computing and graphs.

So, How do I install it?

  1. On the Software Center webpage, click on Windows Download download icon next to Matlab 12.1.
  2. The download should automatically begin in a few seconds. If it doesn't, click the word 'here' to begin the download.
  3. Once it finishes downloading, Double click on the install file.
  4. Click next to install to the default directory, or change the installation directory and then click next.
  5. Click OK. When installing Matlab, several dialogue boxes will appear during setup. Matlab will automatically fill in all forms.
  6. Click next. And you're done!
  7. Note: Matlab requires KeyAccess. If you have not already done so, you will need to Install Key Access.

Common Problems

  • I thought I deleted Matlab, but it still looks like it's installed!
NOTE: When uninstalling, not all components will be removed; there will be some remnants in the matlab directory. Simply delete the directory after uninstall to finish removing all components.

Something Fun:

In days of yore the folks in Digital Media Services were quite taken with Matlab, in particular a foam disk that the makers of Matlab had sent them as a promotional item. They created a Matlab Frisbee Shrine.
