Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition
Do I need Symantec?
You need Antivirus Software. No ifs, ands or buts about it any networked computer is at risk for computer viruses so if you want email and network access you need an Antivirus program. Now which program you choose is up to you. The Norton Corporate Edition the Software Center provides is good and has the benefit of automatic updates. Note: you must connect to Case to get those updates! If you use this computer primarily not on campus, or if you are soon to leave the university you may want to consider purchasing your own Antivirus program. Remember, any Antivirus Program is only as good as it's last update!
How do I do this?
If you connected to the Software Center through VPN while installing Norton Antivirus, you will not be able to run LiveUpdate unless connected to VPN. In other words, if you used VPN to install Norton Antivirus, you will have to reconnect through VPN in order to update your virus definitions.

Unfortunately, you can't keep our Symantec Corporate updated after leaving the University. You will have to purchase your own copy of Norton or another Antivirus program.
