Dell recalls some types of laptop batteries

Dell has issued a voluntary recall on some batteries sold with its laptops in the Latitude, Inspiron, XPS, and Precision Mobile Workstations. These batteries, under rare circumstances, have a risk of overheating and catching fire. Click "Read On" for details.

If you purchased a Dell laptop between April 1, 2004 and July 18, 2006, check whether your battery is affected by this recall at www.dellbatteryprogram.com. If your battery is affected, discontinue using the battery and follow the web site instructions to return it directly to Dell for a replacement. ONLY the battery is affected, not the entire laptop. You may still continue to use the laptop with the standard AC adapter.
