Intermittent Issues Sending Email to AoL or Yahoo accounts from Case

Members of the campus community have reported periodic problems sending email to AoL.com or Yahoo.com addresses (or receiving email from Case accounts to their AoL or Yahool addresses.) This is a known issue caused by Junk Email (called Spam) control mechanisms used by the two companies.
AoL has a specific preset number of mail messages per day that they will accept from a single source. This prevents junk email senders from flooding their accounts with unwanted messages, but also has the side effect that periodically they will block messages from University accounts.

Yahoo's solution is less strict. They will drop an email connection if there are too many unknown recipients, but they do not actually block the message. This causes delays in messages sent to Yahoo accounts, but the messages will still go through.

To combat both of these recurring issues the campus email administrators are in the process of implementing measures to reduce the amount of junk email that is sent out from our system.
