How do I change my email to use my first.last email address?

Changing your email program to use first.last@case.edu instead of userid@case.edu is simple and quick.
  1. Find out what your First.Last email address is. This page will tell you what your first.last email address is or you can look up your information using LDAP. If you are unhappy with your first.lastname address, please see the Email Address Policy Page.
  2. Change the settings in your email program.
Note: If you belong to an email mailing list, changing your email address may prevent you from posting to that list (if it's a member's only list). The solution to this is to simply leave the list and re-join it after making your settings change. For more details, see our Mailing Lists page.
    • On the Mail.case.edu webpage - You are already set to use first.lastname! No change is needed.
    • In Eudora - Go to 'Tools' and select 'Options.' (Or 'special' and 'options' on the Macintosh version of Eudora.) Click on 'Getting Started.'
      First delete the old address
Simply delete the old address, and replace it with the new one! Click 'OK' and you're done. Do not change any of the other settings.
Then type in the new address
    • In Outlook 2003 - Go to 'Tools' and select 'Email Accounts'. Select 'change or edit an existing email account' and click 'next'. Select your mail account and click 'change'. There should be an 'email address' field.
      First delete the old address
Delete the old email address, and enter your new first.last email address.
Then type in the new address
Click Next and Finish to save the changes and you're done! Do not change any of the other settings.
