Network Registration

Every computer (and other network devices such as printers) needs to be registered with our network before it will be able to connect. Fortunately the registration process is fairly simple.

Which is the correct MAC Address?
My MAC Address starts with a 44
The MAC Address for a Modem or PPP Adaptor starts with 44.
What is a hostname?
The name which will identify your computer on the network
Why is it necessary to register my computer for the network?
Network registration verifies your computer as a member of the Case network.
Why should I change the registration information of a network device?
Updated network records help to ensure the security of the Case network.
What is the Hostname of my computer?
If your computer is registered with the network, it has a hostname assigned to it. What is the hostname set to currently?
Bad Hostname
The Change Hostname or Registration page says I chose a bad hostname.
My Hostname and Computer Name are the same, but I still got a notice that they aren't
I have more than one network card in this computer, they can't all match the hostname

Static IP Request page
 
Release a Static IP Address
If you are moving from one building to another, you need to release the static IP address and request a new one in the new building.

Static IP Addresses expire periodically, if your Static IP Address is about to expire, use this link to renew it.
Self IP Registration for Faculty and Staff
Faculty and Staff may now submit batch requests for IP registrations online.
Changing your Hostnames
You can use this page to change the registered names of any network devices registered under your Case Network User ID. This page requires your Case Network User ID and password.
Release Machines Registered to you
This page requires your Case ID and password, you can only release systems registered to yourself.
