Your Computer's Name - Mac OS X
- Double click on System Preferences
System Preferences is either in the dock at the bottom of your screen, or you can click on the Apple and select System Preferences.
- Double click on Sharing under 'Internet & Network'
- Where it says 'Computer name' type in the name you want!
Pick a unique name like 'BobsMac' or 'labMac404' Note: Yes, you can use spaces, apostrophe's and hyphens in this control panel, however your Hostname cannot have these characters and both the computer name and Hostname must match!
- Close the control panel and you're done!
- Now, if you have not already change your registered Hostname to match!
