What programs are affected by a Case User ID password change?

Changing your Case password affects several programs that require logging in. Find out what programs are affected and what to do when you change your password.

If you are experiencing problems accessing your email or calendar information after changing your Case network password, select "Read On" above for directions on synchronizing your passwords in Internet Explorer, Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express, Oracle Calendar, Thunderbird, Novell and local Windows sign on.


To remove stored (or cached) passwords from Internet Explorer 6:

  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. Click the Content tab, then click AutoComplete.
  3. Click Clear Passwords, and then click OK.


To change your email or calendar password after setting a new Case network password:

Eudora

If you are unable to access your email in Eudora after changing your password, click Special and then Forget Password.

Outlook

If you are unable to access your email in Outlook after changing your password:

  1. Select Tools and then Email Accounts.
  2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts and click Next.
  3. Make sure your email account is selected on the left and click Change.
  4. Type your new password into the Password field or Uncheck Save password
  5. Click Next and then Finish.
  6. Close and reopen Outlook to verify access.

Outlook Express

If you are unable to access your email in Outlook Express after changing your password:

  1. Go to Tools and select Accounts .
  2. Make sure your email account is selected on the left and click on Properties.
  3. Go to the Servers tab.
  4. Type your new password into the Password field or Uncheck remember password.
  5. Click OK and Close.
  6. Close and reopen Outlook Express to verify access.

Oracle Calendar

If you are unable to access Oracle Calendar after changing your password:

  1. From the Oracle Calendar Sign-In screen, select Offline in the Connect to field.
  2. Log in using your old password.
  3. Go to Tools and select Change password
  4. Enter your old password in the Old password field and your new password in the New password field. Click OK. Re-enter your new password in the New password field.
  5. Close and reopen Oracle Calendar to verify access.

Thunderbird

Generally Thunderbird will recognize that the password is not valid and will prompt you to enter the current password. However, if you are unable to access your email on Thunderbird after changing your password:

  1. Go to Tools and select Options
  2. Choose Advanced on the left side.
  3. On the right side, under Saved Passwords, click on View saved passwords.
  4. Under the Passwords saved tab, select your email address.
  5. Click Remove, Close, and OK

Novell

To change your Novell password:

  1. Go to help.case.edu.
  2. On the left side, under Navigation/ Key Services, select Novell.
  3. Under Tools in the center of the page, click on Reset your Novell Netware Password or Unlock your Novell Account.
  4. Click on the link Change your password now.
  5. Enter your Novell user name and password, click OK.
  6. Select Unlock my account, and let me pick a new password.
  7. Enter your new password in both fields and click OK.
  8. You may need to change your local Windows password as below to sign onto your computer with a single password.

Local Windows sign-on (Windows XP)

  1. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del.
  2. Click Change Password.
  3. Make sure the Log on to field includes the text “(this computer)”.
  4. Enter your User name, Old Password, New Password and Confirm New Password
  5. Click OK, OK, and Cancel.
